You know what really got me going on this bass-driven electronic music? I loved the sweet overdrive that Phil got on his bass in '73-'74... like in the Dark Stars from 3-28-73 and 8-1-73 for example. When I heard those wobbly overdriven bass synths in dubstep and electro house track, it tickled that very same spot somewhere between between my ears, brain and large intestine... haw haw haw

The first recorded music I paid for in 2-3 years is Russ Liquid's "love makes them so...".

Here's a link to his debut album, Purple... the first couple tracks give a nice sampling of his style... nice classical guitar sample in the 1st and righteous trumpet solo in the 2nd...

And the recent followup:

p.s. ditto on Chimenti and Herbie Hancock / Chick Corea!

I am REALLY enjoying this right now. although i don't like a lot of synth music, i love dub step, and the incorporation of that sound within this brilliant blend of modern and classical playing, is fascinating. you done good. this will keep me busy for awhile. thank you.

i've only made it to track 6 so far, but every song has been incredible. i'm very impressed by this guy, and thrilled to find out he's still so young. this stuff is really unique. kudos to russ liquid.

You're very welcome - I'm glad to pass on something that has given me lots of joy in the past 6 months... Russ is a very humble dude as well - I've seen him live a couple times and once in a very intimate setting... told him how much I enjoyed his music and that his was the first album I paid for in 3 years and he said, "That's why I do this stuff" and gave me a big hug :)
